Full Registration or limited registration?
Our system used for full registration seems to be confusing for some so I will explain in more detail here. When you're deciding whether you would like full or limited registration consider if you would like to compete with your dog in AKC hosted events or breed with your dog? If so, maybe full registration would be in the best interest for you. Limited registration is for pets only. They still have AKC registration but cannot compete in some events or have registerable offspring. We enforce these limited registration puppies are never bred by requiring spay/neuter or ovary sparing spay/vasectomy to preserve hormone production. This is also to ensure a dog that is not breeding quality will not continue to produce less than quality puppies. Each litter there are breeding quality puppies up to my own standards of temperament, structure, conformation and color/pattern.
So, how do you even go about getting full registration on a dog? You begin by filling out and submitting a full registration application. This helps me determine if you would be a good partnership for my program, as I consider every full registration puppy family both a part of the Coppertone family and a partnership. What I look for in a potential partnership is:
- The level of care you provide to your dogs. Are they up to date on all vetting? What are they fed? How often are they groomed and how?
- The type of housing provided for your dogs. Are they kenneled or do they free roam? Inside or outside setups? Are they kept mostly inside or outside or full time either place?
- Do you have the same goals as I do in a breeding program? What are your intentions breeding? Are you bettering the breed? Looking for profit? Want "just one litter form my dog"?
-Are your dogs up to my standard of breeding quality? Do they have good structure? Are they registered? Do they have good pedigrees? Are they fully health tested?
These are just a few of the questions that I need answered before we form a partnership and you're given full registration. I've worked very hard with the lines that I have and am producing. Full registration isn't something to be handed out to anyone willing to pay for it. I have to be confident that you will do good things working with my lines.
All of our puppies are now sold with full registration or as if they were being sold with full registration. This means that every puppy from each litter is the same price, and if you choose to have a pet only, I will reimburse you to pet price once proof from a veterinarian with name and number of clinic visible, name of dog and microchip verification of the dog listed on the proof of alteration that is provided.
